Our mission is to teach children to swim in a safe, caring, positive, and fun environment. We achieve this mission by:

• Attracting coaches who embrace a caring, nurturing, positive attitude toward children.

• Individualizing our programs by using a variety of teaching methods that accommodate different learning styles.

• Maintaining small class sizes allow us to individualize our curriculum to fit your child's specific needs. Research shows that small class sizes make the learning environment beneficial. Small class sizes allow increased time in the water.

• Assuring the highest standards for our coaches and students.

• Providing personal service to meet the needs of each student.

• Providing a safe, secure, and fun environment in which children are encouraged to try new things.

We are so happy to be at Potomac Swim School. We had our oldest in another swim program but were not making much progress. When we moved him to PSS, he did just great, and his comfort level in the water is amazing. Our youngest was very nervous about taking lessons, and week after week the coaches were sp patient and caring with her that she overcame her fears and loves to come to lessons now. We cannot say enough great things about the PSS staff and coaches, and we highly recommend the school to everyone.

Potomac Swim School has proved to be the best thing I could have done for my daughter, Ainsley. In the two years she has been taking lessons, her swimming has improved tremendously. She loves the water and cannot wait to come to lessons! Her self-esteem as a swimmer has really improved, and she has learned strokes that I as an adult can't do as well. PSS has really given her a vital skill that will last a lifetime. I would and do recommend it for every child.

We've been bringing our daughter to Potomac Swim School since her first birthday. It has been a wonderful experience for our entire family. We look forward to our Waterbabies class each week and to the progress our little swimmer is making.

We enrolled our daughter when she was three and scared of the water. The teachers were great--patient and understanding of her fear. With their help, her confidence in the water grew, and she became more comfortable. By the time she was six, she had a beautiful backstroke and at seven was progressing with her butterfly. We enrolled our son in Waterbabies when he was about 18 months old. He is five now and very proud of his progress and can't wait for the local outdoor pool to open for the summer. We recommend PSS to our friends. We even had a pool party there--which is great for winter birthdays!

When we first started swim instruction, Kaden was three years old and didn't want to put his face in the water. With the patience of Coach Amy, he quickly began blowing bubbles and making big strides. Today at age five, he is swimming across the pool, and Coach Carla has cemented his love of swimming for life. For a parent, there is no greater peace than knowing your child has learned a life-saving skill. And our summer vacations and trips to the pool are now fun and stress free! As one can imagine, children and adults can have a true fear of the water. Do not allow your child’s fear or your own fears of the water prevent you from enrolling him or her in PSS swim lessons. We believe that consistent, yearly, one day a week swim lessons is the most appropriate way for your child to learn new swim skills and maintain and improve the skills he or she already possesses.

We strive to develop each child’s high self-esteem. Success in swimming helps your child develop a confidence that will carry over into other areas of his or her life. We require an environment of mutual respect between the coaches, staff, swimmers and parents. We cherish the partnership that we have with parents. We want your child to know that his or her parents along with the PSS staff and coaches love and care for him or her.

Swimming should be a necessity for your child, not a choice. It is the one sport that has the potential to one day save your child’s life.
